Meet the Founder
Hi, I'm Alexis.
For over 8 years, I've worked inside childcare centers — first as a teacher, then as a director — and in that time, I learned something most people outside this field never see: the director role is one of the hardest, most invisible jobs in early childhood education.
I started in the classroom, doing the work most people picture when they think of childcare — lesson plans, circle time, tying a hundred tiny shoes before nap. But it wasn't long before I moved into administration, and that's when the real job revealed itself.
As a director, I wasn't just responsible for the children in the building. I was the one tracking licensing deadlines late at night. The one piecing together a schedule when three staff called out on the same morning. The one who knew, at any given moment, exactly how close we were to a ratio violation, a budget shortfall, or a parent who needed a hard conversation. I was a teacher, a compliance officer, a hiring manager, a bookkeeper, and a shoulder to cry on — often all before lunch.
I loved the work. I still do. But I watched that role quietly take everything from the people doing it — including me. Evenings disappeared into paperwork. Weekends got interrupted by a text that "couldn't wait." And the owners and directors I worked alongside were living the exact same story, over and over, at center after center.
That's the moment Leaps Above Consulting was born.
I kept meeting brilliant, dedicated childcare owners who were drowning under too many job titles — not because they weren't capable, but because no one person was ever meant to carry compliance, staffing, enrollment, and leadership all at once, alone. I'd watch owners who opened their centers with a real vision get buried so deep in the day-to-day that they barely had time to lead, let alone live their own lives outside of it.
So I built the Virtual Director — a way for owners to get real, experienced director-level support, without adding a full-time salary to their books, and without doing it all by themselves anymore.
This work is personal to me. I know what it feels like to carry a center on your back. I know the dread of a licensing letter, the exhaustion of a staffing crisis, the guilt of missing something at home because something at the center needed you first. My goal with Leaps Above is simple: to make sure no owner has to feel that way alone again.
If you're an owner who's stretched too thin, wearing more hats than any one person should — I see you, because I've been you. And I'd love to help you get your center, and your life, back.
